Preparation and recovery vary with the procedure, anaesthesia and your health. If this page differs from the instructions issued by your surgeon or anaesthetist, always follow the instructions provided specifically to you.
Report medication, allergies, medical history, possible pregnancy and any recent change in health. Never stop an anticoagulant, antiplatelet or other treatment without advice from the prescriber and the team caring for you.
If general anaesthesia or sedation is planned, follow the exact fasting times, medication rules, escort requirements and travel-home instructions issued by the team. If anything is unclear, call before travelling.
A clean mouth and good hygiene support healing. Tobacco increases the risk of delayed healing and infection. Prepare the requested documents, tests, regular medication and travel arrangements.
Pain, swelling, bruising, minor bleeding or restricted mouth opening may occur depending on the procedure. Take only the medication prescribed for your situation and follow the local care instructions issued when you leave.
Diet, brushing, mouthwash, sport, driving and returning to work depend on the procedure and anaesthesia. General timelines do not replace the individual advice issued for your case.
Contact the team for persistent bleeding, uncontrolled or worsening pain, fever, increasing swelling, discharge or any unusual symptom. Difficulty breathing or swallowing requires immediate emergency help: call 15 or 112 in France.
